VigLink

Alan joins VigLink with almost 10 years of experience delivering software specifically for Retail and Digital Marketing, and more than 20 years developing software. Prior to VigLink he was VP of Technology at Adchemy, where he led the development of their dynamic content and search engine marketing products, and VP of Engineering at DemandTec, where he ran their platform technology group. His other prior companies include Sybase, CrossWorlds, and Convergent Technologies. Alan has a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from Columbia University in New York.

You might remember Rick's handcrafted HTML, CSS & JavaScript from such startups as Rupture (a social network for gamers; acquired by Electronic Arts), SNOCAP (services for musicians; acquired by imeem) and Napster (the cool one).

Rick prefers OS X over Windows, spaces over tabs, and dogs over cats (sorry, Ash).

Prior to joining VigLink, Edward has worked at Garmin on embedded marine GPS. Before that, he has worked at Autonomy on electronic document and audio discovery solution. Before moving back to the States, he has lived and worked in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom and he still loves to travel a lot. He received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley.

Through his consulting firm, Gabor has spent the last decade leading projects at large organizations such as Microsoft and AT&T wireless, where he applied his expertise in data analysis and machine learning to improve business processes. He is an active participant in the data mining research community, has published over 16 papers in the field, and is the current author of an online data mining ontology that receives ~1,700 unique visitors per day. Last year he completed a PhD in semantic natural language processing at Simon Fraser University – his project included question answering, information extraction and ontology-based shallow semantic parsing.

Cheick is passionate about software design in the context of lean startup and agile development methodologies. Previously, he was a Senior Software Engineer at Commission Junction, a division of ValueClick Inc., where he worked on extending the clicks-to-sales correlation engine, optimizing the business-to-business data processing systems, and developing collaborative filtering algorithms for publishers and advertisers, to name just a few. Cheick studied as an exchange student in the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Santa Barbara and received his Master of Science in Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic School of Grenoble, France. Cheick is an avid cyclist and is training to complete his first half-ironman triathlon.

Idris is passionate about data analysis and data visualization. Before joining VigLink, he was a spreadsheet jockey for a hedge fund and various financial consulting companies, such as KPMG and Stout Risius Ross. He is delighted to have traded in his spreadsheet for the command line and a text editor. When not pounding keys in bash or vim, he can usually be found taking things apart and occasionally putting them back together, usually in some mutant form.

He holds an MS in Accounting from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University.

Nam's interests lie in the intersection of theory and practice. He focuses on applying techniques from machine learning, algorithms and statistical analysis to reveal useful patterns hidden in user generated data. Before joining Viglink, he was the Lead Engineer at Caterva where he developed various algorithms for analyzing interests and influences of users based on their social activities. Nam received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2010 from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
