Murray Newlands Reports from LeadsCon on the Topics of Compliance, Quality and Volume
Friday, August 16th, 2013
Our advisor Murray Newlands was at LeadsCon this week and so we asked him to report on the show for us. Here is his three key takeaways from the event.
The overall feel of the show was very positive with more people than ever and after speaking to people on the booths I realised what a strong inflow of advertisers there were, all with healthy budgets to spend. The great news is that the industry is on the up and no one talks about recession any more. There were happy faces everywhere and companies are recruiting heavily.
With the Federal Trade Commission cracking down on free gift card offers and other online vouchers, market compliance was an issue everyone was talking about. Seeking ever better consumer protection is forcing a huge clean up in many parts of the industry, with some saying it was about time.
Along with compliance quality is another growing theme of LeadsCon. I spoke to several companies and asked them what people were looking for at the show and they said quality leads, they had volume but now need quality to compete. With that need for quality there are several service provides doing well helping lead generators find and track the quality of their leads. Cake Marketing the affiliate tracking platform announced that they were fully integrating CPA Detective the leading fraud detection service, which brings with it traffic quality metrics, real-time scores and device fingerprint data.
Size matters and Fluent the co-registration company are on a land grab in the coreg space with their path now powering the offer sites of a number of other companies. They are now generating a reported 200,000 leads per day.
