The Future is Content: Top Takeaways From CJU 2013
Friday, September 13th, 2013
This week, we attended the 2013 Commission Junction University conference, also known as #CJU2013 in the Twittersphere.
The event, as shown by the gorgeous photo from the CJU networking hour, beneath, was held in the beautiful setting of Santa Barbara and was a whirlwind of meeting, mingling, and learning.
Among the many conversations we had, there were two very pertinent points that came to light about the future of affiliation and how important you, our fantastic publishers, are. Here are the key interwoven factors to the future of affiliate marketing and how you can best stamp out your place in it.
1. “The future is content.” Merchants are getting tired of coupons and deals sites and are instead starting to really understand the value of content producers. As not only does content sell, but it also drives discovery of products and brings new customers.

2. “Set your goals, make it happen, no is a definite maybe. ” ABC’s Shark, Daymond John, the publisher’s champion, gave his keynote titled: “Lessons from the Shark.” In his address he stressed the need for all publishers to be strategic in order to be successful. Always plan ahead and think carefully about your content creation. Including the timing of posts and most crucially, you must always keep your core audience in mind while you create. As Daymond said “stickiness is the new currency.”
